Alloys are pleased to announce a trio of high-end large format devices from Canon, the new imagePROGRAF 60-inch PRO-6600, 44-inch PRO-4600 and 24-inch PRO-2600 models.

Designed for photography and fine art, the new imagePROGRAF PRO range features the newly developed LUCIA PRO II¹ pigment ink. This ink has been formulated to improve print quality and greatly improve scratch resistance. Improved black density on art paper is achieved by changing the formulation of the matte black ink and the colour gamut of the dark region was expanded by the adoption of a newly designed image table. The new ink set can also work to help preserve prints as a crystalline wax has been added to the ink, giving the printed surface better resistance to abrasion-caused scratches on glossy and semi-glossy media. The reformulated Chroma Optimiser is designed to give the surface a clear coat of transparent ink that helps suppress bronze phenomena and reduce uneven glossiness.

The new series includes a newly developed ink sensing system which periodically monitors the accuracy of the ink ejection and automatically maintains optimal ink placement position on the page to ensure high image quality. The intelligent media handling function automatically detects the paper type, width and estimated remaining amount of paper, plus it completes the paper feeding process in a shorter time than previous models. The automation of this process will help ensure stable operations even in the absence of skilled or experienced personnel. The addition of LED interior lights allows users to preview prints and semi-translucent ink tank covers allows users to monitor ink tank status.

Vishal Gohel, Category Sales Specialist at Alloys comments, “Since the launch of the original 12-colour devices in 2005, Canon became a strong contender in the graphics space. With the introduction of the PRO-series a decade later, Canon cemented themselves as the leading provider of large format printers to photographers and artists in Australia. The new PRO-range, with the major update to the previous LUCIA PRO inks shows the commitment and investment Canon has, not just to the best print hardware, but the best ink formulas and configurations to address the needs of the most critical eye. The addition of around a dozen other minor improvements makes the PRO-x600 series one of the easiest large format printers to live with
