Canon vs HP head to head

We know that you can sometimes be confronted with customers who think an HP wide format printer is the inexpensive solution to the CAD and poster requirements. But when it comes to economy, the price of the box and the cost of ownership can be two very different things.

Let’s first compare some facts and figures of the Canon TM-300 vs the HP T520 before looking at the HP Designjet T830 MFP alongside the Canon imagePROGRAF TM-300 L36ei MFP.

Free stuff is good!
Straight out of the box, the Canon machine is supplied with 490ml of ink, compared to the HP’s 167ml… That’s nearly three times more free ink from Canon, resulting in hundreds more free prints for your customer!

Double the warranty
The TM-300, like all Canon Large Format Printers, comes with a 24 month warranty out of the box. The HP T520 only has 12 months. What’s more, the Canon warranty includes the print heads for total peace of mind.

Time is money
The TM-300 can print 5 x A1 landscape CAD drawings in less than 3 minutes, all stacked neatly for use. The T520 takes over 5 minutes for the same job and the prints are dropped randomly into a catch basket for customers to gather and sort out later.

Feed me!
Inks will need replacing…that’s a fact. But when it comes to feeding the printer, nobody should have to purchase replacement inks more often than is genuinely necessary. The TM-300’s ability to accept 130ml ink tanks and 300ml size tanks dramatically reduces the frequency of replacement when compared to owning a T520.

The TM-300 inks are also hot-swappable, so they can be replaced while still printing. The T520 cancels the job when the ink runs out, wasting your customer’s valuable time, ink and paper until they’re replaced.

Now let’s look at the some observations when trialling the HP Designjet T830 MFP alongside the Canon imagePROGRAF TM-300 L36ei MFP.

Compact and quiet
The TM-300 MFP is quieter and has a far smaller footprint, ideal for the space restricted office. Read here if you want to know more about how Canon achieves such quiet operation.

Time saving and hassle free
The TM-300 has a unique basket arrangement that can be transformed into a stacker to eliminate the hassle of sorting. The HP T830 does not.

Superb, super-fast scanning
The Canon solution L36ei scanner utilises dual LED's to illuminate the original during scanning. This greatly reduces or eliminates the original's folds, creases and shadows to produce a clean, crisp, reproduction without the aberrations. The T830 uses a single LED, therefore the imperfections are easy to see.

High-speed copying is approximately 50% faster when using the Canon TM-300 L36ei.
Rapid, high-quality printing
When continuous printing, the TM-300 L36ei MFP has the advantage, being up to 40% faster than the HP T830.

With all of these features plus twice the maximum scan resolution (1200 vs 600dpi), 130ml starter inks and a smaller droplet size, your customers can instantly benefit from Canon’s time saving, high quality, multifunction, A0 wide-format solution.
